Explosions In The Sky haben ihr erstes Album seit sieben Jahren angekündigt! 'End' erscheint am 15. September über Bella Union. Die erfreuliche Meldung erfolgt zeitgleich mit der Veröffentlichung des Eröffnungsstücks 'Ten Billion People' und der Ankündigung einer ausgedehnten Tour, die die Band auch im November nach Deutschland bringt.
'End' verbindet die ruhige Zurückhaltung und das erdrückende Gewicht ihrer frühen Aufnahmen mit den klanglichen Experimenten ihrer späteren Werke (während es gleichzeitig ihren immer umfangreicheren Katalog an Film- und Fernsehkompositionen mit einbezieht).
Das Album wurde von der Dunkelheit inspiriert, entwickelte sich aber zu einem lauten, dramatischen und wilden Nachdenken über Leben und Tod. Our starting point was the concept of an ending - death, or the end of a friendship or relationship, erklärt die Band. Maybe its our nature, but we kept feeling that the album title was ultimately open to a lot more interpretation - the end of a thing or a time can mean a stop, but it can also mean a beginning, and what happens after one thing ends might pale in comparison to what it becomes next.
