Most of these verses you already know. That is the problem.
A hundred instructions from the Bible, ranked by the ones people actually reach for - anxiety before doctrine; anger, money and forgiveness before the things that only sound important. The first commandment is the hundredth chapter, and the last page explains why.
Every chapter does the same three things.
It takes the verse back to the language it was written in, one word at a time. "Be careful for nothing" does not mean be cautious. To bear a grudge is the Hebrew verb for standing guard over a vineyard. To honour your father and mother is to make them heavy.
It puts the verse back in the paragraph it came out of. "Judge not" ends four verses later by telling you to go and take the speck out. "Give, and it shall be given unto you" is the fourth item in a list whose first three are about mercy, not money. "In every thing give thanks" says in, not for.
And it names the part that gets skipped - the difficulty, the disputed reading, the popular meaning the text will not support.
Every reference is checked against the King James text, word by word. Hebrew and Greek appear in their own script, in transliteration, and with Strong's numbers, so any claim here can be checked in any concordance.
Includes a scripture index and a hundred numbered principles - and leaves no verse as a slogan.
