《任建明谜语研究文集》是国内民间谜学领域一部扎根中原田野、兼具史料厚度与学术深度的专项研究著作，全书共收录40篇民间谜语研究专题文章，总计360余页，约45万字。是作者历时八年参与《中国民间文学大系·谜语·河南卷》编纂工作过程中，逐步沉淀形成的系统性研究成果，也是河南本土民间谜语研究领域的代表性专著。
该书的创作缘起于2018年中国民间文学大系出版工程启动的时代背景，作者全程参与河南民间谜语的全省普查搜集工作，在走村入户的田野调研中打捞散落在豫乡田埂间的口传谜作，陆续产出了一批扎根河南本土文化的研究文稿，其中《河南民间字谜创作手法初探》曾刊发于中国作家协会主办的《文艺报》，为民间字谜的源流梳理与生存现状研究提供了扎实的本土样本。
文集最初以35篇文稿、30万字的规模作为内部交流资料印行，仅在2025年11月"《大系·谜语卷》《中华灯谜年鉴·谜语研究分册》编纂工作座谈会"中小范围流转，便凭借对河南本土谜语的深度挖掘收获了谜学界的广泛认可。2026年7月，该书被纳入华文民间文化出版社《谜学论丛》书系正式出版，作者对全书完成了系统性修订重构，将内容规整为"谜书书评""谜书序言""谜史探究""谜艺研究"四大板块，各板块内容各有侧重又彼此呼应，搭建起了从史料梳理到技艺拆解、从文化溯源到当代传承的完整研究框架。新增了多篇跨学科研究新作：既引入王弼符号学等理论视角拆解民间谜语的隐喻逻辑，也从豫东小满会等本土民俗场景中打捞谜语附着的生活印记。
