Die Kommunarden hatten es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, menschenwürdige soziale Verhältnisse für das Volk zu schaffen. Thankmar von Münchhausen erzählt die Vorgeschichte und die Ereignisse dieser 72 Tage, die als erste Diktatur des Proletariats gelten, anhand zahlreicher Dokumente und Prozessberichte, Briefe und Tagebücher, Sitzungsprotokolle und Zeitungsartikel und lässt so das Paris dieser Zeit an der Schwelle zur Moderne lebendig werden.§§
