Arte Vetraria Muranese (AVEM) entstand nach der Auflösung von Successori Andrea Rioda im November 1931. Die neue Manufaktur gab der zeitgenössischen künstlerischen Glasproduktion auf Murano eine ganz persönliche Note. Waren für die Entwürfe vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in der Regel noch die Glasbläsermeister selbst verantwortlich, bestimmten nach dem Krieg zunehmend Designer und freie Künstler die Herstellung. Die typischen Farbeffekte der Manufaktur erzielte Giulio Radi ab 1940 durch übereinanderliegende, formgeblasene Glasschichten, oftmals opak und transparent im Wechsel, mit zwischengelegtem Blattgold und -silber. Über 800 Entwurfszeichnungen, zahlreiche Archivbilder und Neuaufnahmen der Meisterstücke von AVEM machen diese Dokumentation der Firmengeschichte unverzichtbar für alle Muranoglas-Liebhaber.
