Die Studie analysiert Verfahren der Sinnkonstituierung im "Reinfried" sowie im "Apollonius" und nimmt eine Neubestimmung dessen vor, was die so genannten "Minne- und Aventiureromane" signifikant von anderen Versromanen unterscheidet. Höfische Minne und ritterliches Abenteuer als Ausdrucksformen adliger Existenz werden in Verbindung mit dem Brautwerbungsschema funktionalisiert, um die Thematik von Machtlegitimation und Herrschaftstranslation vor dem Hintergrund christlicher Heilsgeschichte paradigmatisch zu entfalten. Da der "Apollonius" als Gegenentwurf zum "Reinfried" konzipiert ist, wird ein Diskursverhältnis zwischen den späten "Minne- und Aventiureromanen" sichtbar.
