Bishop

Bishop is a young writer moving through Houston on cigarettes, cheap whiskey, sleepless nights, and the fragile hope that life might still become something more than regret. He rides his bike through dark streets, writes until dawn, loses himself in old films and music, and reaches for intimacy wherever it appears-often without knowing how to hold on to it.

His relationships leave a trail of tenderness and damage: Mia, whose love he cannot meet with the faithfulness it deserves; old friends who draw him back toward the lives he abandoned; and Niobe, a woman whose voice and presence seem to offer the possibility of redemption. Yet Bishop's restless self-destruction follows him everywhere. As drink, drugs, memory, guilt, and ambition begin to blur together, the story shifts into a haunting, uncertain future in which fame has arrived-but peace has not.

Raw, lyrical, and unflinching, this is a novel about desire and betrayal, friendship and disappearance, the intoxicating promise of escape, and the cost of refusing to be loved.
