Blackstar

A galaxy at war, a girl who writes poetry, and the fastest starship money can buy.

All she wanted was to see the beauty of the Milky Way, now she's on the run.

The Milky Way galaxy is at war. The Confederation of Sol battles the Union of Outer Systems on countless fronts across the cosmos.

Meanwhile on Earth, M lives a comfortable, yet unfulfilling life as a member of Confederation high-society. Trapped in a loveless engagement and a boring job she doesn't even need, she longs for an artist's life among the stars.

When she uncovers evidence of terrible crimes committed by her powerful, possessive fiancé, M finally has the reason she needs to flee Earth for good.

At a spaceport on the moon, she meets the mysterious and charismatic 'Captain', not his real name of course, but an offer to board his ship, the Blackstar and be flown to a safe haven of artists and intellectuals on the other side of the galaxy is too much to ignore.

However, M quickly learns that Captain is far from all he appears to be, and soon finds herself entangled in an ongoing, galaxy-spanning game of cat and mouse that could turn the tide of the Confederation's war.

With her fiancé relentlessly pursuing her, and her travelling companion's past threatening to catch up with him too, the freedom M longed for may not be better than the gilded cage she left behind...
