" Sometimes the only way to help yourself is to help someone else first.
It's how the world figures out if you're worthy or not."
Talthielle is Epozia. He preserves the continuity of life in Omnia by conscripting its inhabitants and forcing them to relive critical moments in their lives until they understand how their choices affect themselves and the world.
He sees visions of a great war coming, and traces its origins to two lovestruck Kenjah, doomed to wander into a brutal and senseless tragedy that will precipitate catastrophic conflict.
Brinka is murdered in Flask. Weeks later, a broken and despairing Konjo is ambushed in the hillside above the Titan. Talthielle spends the balance of his lifeforce to resurrect Brinka, and endows her with the power to save Konjo, or to destroy the world if it refuses to oblige. But Omnia demands a reckoning. If Konjo is to live, Jorgan must be murdered in the morning for a crime he might commit at nightfall.
The Epozia do not trade lives. If Brinka is to be Epozia, she must learn the difference between solving a problem by changing the outcome, and changing the outcome by solving the problem. A judicious steward does not punish the branch for a disease in the root. The solution to the problem in front of you is always behind you. The thing that influences the world outside of you is the thing within. You must love the world to save it.
This volume is preceded by Konjo, by Samuel Sulfur.
