Mathematics is the base for most of the science disciplines including computer science and information technology. Mathematics also plays an important role in Business and financial applications. Mathematical concepts such as algebra and calculus form the basis of computer algorithms and business applications.
The material is organized in five parts. Part one builds the algebraic and functional language. Part two focuses on vectors, matrices, eigenvalues, and dimensionality reduction. Part three introduces limits and derivatives and applies them to optimization, including the gradient descent method used to train machine-learning models. Part four develops integration and connects it to probability and statistics. Part five include infinite sequences and series.
Two supplementary chapters include mathematical concepts applied on common machine-learning algorithms, and Chapter 13 uses differential equations to model business growth. Three appendices focuses on geometry review, an introduction to Python libraries for linear algebra and calculus, and a compact table of derivative, integral, and matrix formulas for quick reference.
Each of the sections includes core rules, solved numerical example and application of realistic business scenario for example pricing a product, forecasting revenue, evaluating a loan, or sizing a budget.
Readers new to the subject should work through the chapters in order, since later material builds directly on earlier results. Readers with some background can use the table of contents to jump to the topics they need and consult the appendices as required. In either case, the most useful habit is to work the examples by hand before checking them against software; the goal throughout is not to memorize formulas but to translate a real question into precise mathematical language, apply the right technique, and translate the answer back into a practical conclusion.
