Every day of Chailey Smith's life seems to leave her in a daze. As a psychiatric nurse working for the Cookfield Police Department, her job requires her to attend all police calls involving people with psychiatric problems. One minute she's responding to a call about an eighty year old woman "sunbathing" in the rain and the next call she's hiking it up a crane to assist a person down from her high perch despite her own fear of heights. Life is complicated by the antics of her prankster cop buddies, the demands of her three quirky tenants and ongoing hassles from her soon-to-be ex-husband, a plastic surgeon.
