Learn Cherki tonight: cut out the cards, laminate them, and play.

Cherki (also spelled Ceki) is a classic card game from Peranakan households in Singapore and Malaysia. Collect five sets of three cards, tap the table and call "tan", then shout sampay! when you win.

This book puts everything in one place, so there is no deck to track down:

  • 180 ready-to-cut cards: six full sets of 30, each on its own page with a blank back
  • Step-by-step rules for 2 to 5 players, from shuffling and dealing to calling and winning
  • Clear scoring guide with worked examples
  • Quick-reference page to keep beside the table
  • Printable score sheet
  • Hokkien glossary: makan, cholek, mata, ayam, kandang and more
  • Finishing tips for pasting cards on card stock or laminating them
Every card shows its number in large digits with the Hokkien name beneath, so beginners can join in straight away. Red cards are also labelled with their point values.

Perfect as a heritage gift for grandparents, parents and grandchildren, a fun family-night activity, or a way to introduce Peranakan culture to friends.

Please note: this is a cut-out book. You will need scissors or a paper trimmer, and backing card or laminating pouches if you want durable cards. Written for family play with points, not stakes.
