Im zweiten Kapitel geht Horwitz auf die Grundlagen des romantischen Subjektivismus ein, bevor er wieder den Bogen zu Schlegel schlägt. Insbesondere dem Ichbegriff in Schlegels Philosophie wendet er sich dabei zu.
