Er wird hier in einer neuen Übersetzung vorgelegt, die auf die einzige Handschrift selbst zurückgeht. Der Ring fasziniert bis heute aufgrund seiner Sprachgewalt, seiner Lust an der Verkehrung soziokultureller Ordnungen und am Spiel mit allen Formen des Hässlichen und Obszönen, aber auch seiner tiefen Frömmigkeit und seiner allerdings vergeblichen Hoffnung auf einen Erfolg seiner Belehrungen. Die Ausgabe bietet im Paralleldruck einen handschriftennahen Abdruck des Münchener Codex, den Text nach der Edition Edmund Wießners (1931) und die Übersetzung.
