"Die schwarze Spinne" ist Albert Bitzius (1797-1854) wohl berühmtestes Werk. Als schweizer Pfarrer und Schriftsteller veröffentlichte Bitzius unter dem Pseudonym Jeremias Gotthelf mehrer Romane, Erzählungen, und Aufsätze, die teilweise historisch aber auch zeitgenössisch sind. In der hiervorliegenden Novelle sind zwei Binnenerzählungen eingebettet, in beiden Erzählungen tritt eine teuflische, schwarze, todbringende Spinne auf. In dieser gleichnishaften Erzählung verarbeitet Pfarrer Bitzius christlich-humanistische Vorstellung über Gut und Böse. §Sorgfältig bearbeiteter Nachdruck der Originalausgabe aus dem Jahre 1843.
