As a preschool or primary educator, you know that play is integral to a child's learning. But there is so much more to play and learning than meets the eye! If children only ever free play, you will miss vital opportunities to support their conceptual understanding of the world around them.
This must-read book is a strong call to focus on concept formation from an early age. It offers ways to joyfully engage young minds in the present, whilst paving the way for their future learning.
Over her many years working across early education settings, as an educator and consultant, Lili-Ann Kriegler has synthesised the following 7 dynamic learning zones:
• Free play
• Mediated play
• Embedded concepts
• Concept clarity
• Closed-ended mobilsation
• Open-ended mobilsation
• Auto-generative creativity
The best thing about Edu-Chameleon is, that it doesn't add time to your already jam-packed schedule!
It refines your professional knowledge about concept formation to augment the value, purpose and precision of everything you already plan, assess, say and do each day. When you use the 7 zones, your students' learning will be elevated with every word you speak.
After reading this book, rather than say, 'Let them play', you will learn to ask, 'How can I be an agile Edu-Chameleon and leverage all 7 dynamic learning zones, including play, to enhance the concept-based understanding of my students every day?'
