Gustav Meyrink (1868 1932) stammte aus Wien und gilt als Klassiker der fantastischen Literatur, sein bekanntester Roman ist der in Prag spielende "Golem". Der Autor verstand es, virtuos antibürgerliche, bis ins Groteske gesteigerte Satire mit schwarzem Humor und Übersinnlichem zu verbinden.
