Seit den 1950er Jahren beschäftigte sich Horst Janssen mit derdurchaus komplexen Beziehung zwischen Mann und Frau und lotete auch Themen wie Gewalt und Obsession aus. Es entstanden zahlreiche Radierzyklen, Aquarelle,Zeichnungen und andere Druckgraphiken, die Motive wie Begierde, Leidenschaft und Tod umkreisen. In Kooperation mit dem Horst-Janssen-Museum Oldenburg präsentiert das Städtische Museum Braunschweig die Ausstellung mit dem Titel "Sex, Gewalt und andere Obsessionen: Horst Janssen". In einzelnen Themeninseln wie "Erotische Landschaften", "Eros und Tod", "Kuss", "Femme fatale", "Geile Sibyllchen", "Phantasien", "Alpträume" sowie "Erotik und Gewalt" werden unterschied-liche Einblicke in das erotische Werk von Horst Janssen gegeben. Der Katalog enthält neben Aufsätzen rund 100 farbige Abbildungen aus dem gesamten Spektrum des erotischen Werks von Horst Janssen.
