Fourteen kids. Two counselors. One frozen lake. And something is wrong.
A winter trip to Voyageurs National Park is supposed to be an adventure. For Owen and the other kids, that means sleeping in cabins, fishing through the ice, watching the northern lights, and trying not to think too hard about the fact that their van is driving across a frozen lake.
Then one of them disappears.
The adults have explanations. The weather is getting worse. The ice makes noises no one seems particularly worried about. And the more Owen and his friends begin paying attention, the less the official story makes sense.
Now they have a choice: trust the adults who are supposed to know what they're doing-or start looking for answers themselves.
Set against the frozen lakes and winter wilderness of Voyageurs National Park, Ice Holes is a fast-moving young-adult adventure about friendship, courage, and what happens when kids notice the things adults would rather explain away.
The van was on a lake. Then the ice answered.
