Aufgrund des Umfangs der Lebenserinnerungen werden sie in zwei Teilen herausgegeben; dabei bot sich der Unterstellungswechsel des Gebirgsjäger-Regiments 100 von der 1. Gebirgs-Division zur neuaufgestelten 5. Gebirgs-Division Ende 1940 als natürliche Zäsur an.
