En esta obra se entremezclan con absoluta sencillez y maestría la narración de viajes, el cuaderno de campo del árqueologo, la poesía descriptiva del novelista, la curiosidad innata del antropólogo y la simplicidad del manual militar. Estamos, pues, ante la obra de un ecléctico con el espíritu totalizador de un renacentista y la capacidad especulativa de un visionario ilustrado. Y es que Lawrence, como es obvio, poseía el talento natural de los grandes escritores. Tan sólo por eso deberíamos estarle agradecidos.
