Durante largos períodos de nuestra historia existía una visión consensuada y homogénea de la infancia. No se ponía en duda su consideración como "sujetos aún no capaces", "sujetos incompletos" o "sujetos pasivos" al no poseer la capacidad jurídica asignada por la biología, o lo que es similar, al ser menores y encontrarse ubicados en el ámbito privado del hogar y por tanto, a la sombra de la unidad familiar. Una forma de representar la nińez que ha contribuido a su invisibilización y ha justificado relaciones asimétricas y de poder basadas en la edad, relaciones de desigualdad que vienen a denominarse adultocentrismo. Mi intención en este trabajo es mostrar a partir del estudio etnográfico de los nińos y nińas de la calle de la Ciudad de México, las prácticas que los lleva a conformar su propio hogar, para de esta manera, cuestionar la mirada que presenta la infancia como inmadura y a los nińos y nińas como sujetos dependientes o pasivos. Realidad que me lleva a resignificar la infancia y en consecuencia, a demandar otras formas de entender la nińez, planteando la necesidad de establecer las relaciones entre adultos y nińos y nińas, de una manera diversa.
