In 1955, Henry Enright is a stranger in a strange town. The painfully shy, na ve teenager has relocated with his family from Boston to a quiet rural community, and Henry tries not to remember the thrashing he received a few years earlier on a cold winter's day in the shadow of St. Andrew's Church-a beating that would leave him even more determined to find acceptance-no matter what the personal cost.In a time when rock and roll has just started to play from the jukeboxes and the sexual revolution is on the rise, Henry, determined to remake his image and be accepted by his peers, begins to make a dramatic transformation. With only his wits to guide him in his rebellion against authority and religious hypocrisy, Henry has no idea how devastating the consequences of his revolt against the world around him will be.Both poignant and heart-wrenching, "The Obsession of Henry Enright" captures the mood of an era through the eyes of a misguided soul seeking to know and be known.
