What if man's thirst to push the boundaries of science resulted in its own destruction?

Richard Draven's research into the healing properties of animals during an expedition to the remote Congo jungle unwittingly sets in motion a chain of events which will lead mankind to the brink of extinction.

His discovery - a new species of monkey with incredible regenerative powers - leads to interest from the government who is looking for away to enhance their military forces in their numerous conflicts around the globe.

Six years later, the research started by Draven has been put into practice.

Squads of genetically modified soldiers are inn active servie around the world - these, the Apex Squads, are covert, the modifications making them quicker, stronger, and more resistant to pain then the rest fo himanity.

Soon, disturbing reports of mass murder and unprovoked violence by the squads begin to filter through.
