Rotkäppchen soll seiner kranken Großmutter, die draußen im Wald wohnt, Kuchen und Wein bringen. Unterwegs kommt der Wolf und beginnt freundlich mit dem Mädchen plaudern, um zu erfahren, wo die Großmutter wohnt. Dann läuft er zu ihr, verschluckt sie, zieht ihre Kleider an und legt sich ins Bett. Als Rotkäppchen kommt, wundert es sich über das seltsame Aussehen der Großmutter. Da springt der Wolf aus dem Bett, verschlingt es, legt sich wieder hin und beginnt zu schnarchen. Der Jäger hört das, schneidet den Wolf auf und die beiden kommen lebend heraus. Der Wolf, dem sie den Bauch mit Steinen gefüllt haben, sinkt nach dem Erwachen tot zu Boden; die drei aber sind froh, dass alles so gut geendet hat.
