What happens when the people who have been overlooked are finally given space to speak?
SEEN: Voices of Survival is an international, survivor-led anthology of poetry, testimony, artwork, and lived experience exploring the battles people carry long after the world assumes they should be fine.
These pages move through trauma, PTSD, addiction, disability, illness, medical crisis, grief, abuse, mental health, faith, humor, recovery, and the complicated work of continuing to live after life has changed.
Some voices are angry. Some are hopeful. Some are still rebuilding. Some have found faith, purpose, acceptance, or even laughter in places they never expected.
None of them are required to be completely healed.
Created by Gray Matters Survivor Press, SEEN does not rank one survivor's pain against another or ask contributors to soften their truth for comfort. It makes room for voices that are raw, imperfect, courageous, funny, faithful, frightened, resilient, and real.
Every contribution is presented in the individual voice of its creator-because survival does not look or sound the same for everyone.
The anthology begins with a promise:
We see the unseen.
By the final pages, that promise has changed:
They see they are seen.
For survivors, families, caregivers, advocates, and anyone who has ever carried something the world could not see, this book offers a simple message:
You are not invisible.
Your story matters.
You are seen.
Published by Gray Matters Survivor Press, a survivor-led creative imprint based in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Proceeds help support survivor-centered outreach and handcrafted fine-motor recovery kits for people rebuilding after life-changing medical events.
