Smokey's New Trick

Smokey is a clever black cat with bright green eyes, a fluffy gray-tipped tail, and a talent for getting exactly what he wants. One evening, Dad kicks off his shoes and socks, and Smokey makes an exciting discovery: bare feet mean game time!

With a gentle nibble, nibble, Smokey surprises Dad and earns himself a tasty treat. It doesn't take this smart little cat long to figure out the pattern. Socks on? No game. Socks off? Game on-and maybe another treat!

From that moment on, Smokey becomes Dad's most dedicated foot watcher. Whether Dad is walking through the kitchen, relaxing in the living room, getting ready for bed, or settling in for movie night, Smokey patiently waits for those socks to disappear. Dad even tries wearing socks and slippers around the house, but Smokey knows he only has to wait.

When Smokey strikes again, Dad realizes his clever cat may have trained him instead of the other way around. So Dad comes up with a new plan: a high five for a treat-socks or no socks!

Smokey carefully considers the offer before lifting his paw for the softest little high five.

A warm, funny story about the silly routines pets create with the people they love, Smokey's New Trick celebrates companionship, clever cats, family laughter, and the special bond between a pet and his favorite human. And although Smokey has learned a brand-new trick, he still keeps one mischievous eye on Dad's feet...just in case.
