The Butterfly People

Some islands are hidden. This one chooses to remain that way.

Captain Pennick Sable has spent his life smuggling cargo, outrunning naval patrols and trusting no one for very long. When his weather-beaten ship, The Castaway, stumbles upon an island that exists beyond ordinary maps, he believes he has found the greatest treasure of his career.

Instead, he discovers a place unlike any other.

A land of towering forests and living seasons. Crystal-winged people who glide between the trees. Ingenious blue-skinned inventors. Ancient sea guardians that enforce a single, impossible law:

Nothing taken from the island may ever leave.

When a ruthless smuggler escapes with knowledge of the island's location, Pennick and his unlikely companions are forced to leave the sanctuary behind and race across the mainland to stop powerful collectors, armies and fortune hunters from claiming paradise for themselves.

As enemy fleets close in and old loyalties are tested, Pennick must decide whether the island's greatest defence is its ancient magic... or the people willing to fight for it.

Filled with daring sea voyages, unforgettable characters, witty adventure and magical discoveries, The Butterfly People is a heart warming fantasy -a tale about found family, courage and discovering that the greatest treasures are never meant to be owned.
