The Failing Path

Aeloria escaped Zone Thirteen. He did not escape the power that followed him.

Torn through a violent rupture and cast into an unknown realm, Aeloria wakes injured, alone and without supplies. The only thing that crossed with him is the mysterious crystal shard now bound to his wrist.

Around him lies a world unlike anything he has known. Trees grow through living crystal. Stones drift above the ground. Ancient pathways shift beneath his feet, and forgotten structures begin responding to his presence as though they recognise something within him.

Then Aeloria discovers he is not alone.

An elven field team is struggling to stabilise a failing passage between fractured realms. Their knowledge may be his only chance of survival, yet every reaction from the shard gives them another reason to fear him. When the ancient path begins answering Aeloria more strongly than those trained to control it, rescue becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish from containment.
