Belfast, 1968. Two families stand on opposite sides of a divided city.

The Devlins are Catholic, carrying old grievances, quiet fears, and the growing belief that patience has become another word for surrender. The Morrows are Protestant, loyal to the world they know, yet increasingly troubled by what that loyalty demands. As civil rights marches, riots, internment, Bloody Sunday, Sunningdale, and the prison protests reshape Northern Ireland, both families find history entering their homes long before it reaches the headlines.

At the centre of the story are Aileen Devlin and Thomas Morrow, a Catholic woman and a Protestant man whose forbidden love challenges everything their families have been taught to fear. Around them, parents struggle to protect their children, young people are drawn toward dangerous certainties, and ordinary households become battlegrounds of conscience, grief, and survival.
