Treasure

The most brilliant creature ever made has spent the whole span of history certain of himself. He is wrong about everything, and he is the one telling you this story.

This is an imaginative retelling of the parable in Matthew 13:44. One verse about Abba, a field, and a buried treasure, opened into the entire arc of Scripture. A garden. A cross. A rescue that goes down into the dirt after the thing everyone else had written off. The enemy narrates it all, and he never once understands what he is looking at. He sees a broken, buried, worthless thing. He has no idea why Abba thinks it is worth such a price.

Abba reads it perfectly. He buys the field and pays everything He has to buy back the ground, the wreckage and every buried soul in it.

At the center of the book is the cross, drawn deeper than the familiar telling. Not as something done to the Son while the Father looked away, but as an event inside God Himself. All Three drinking the same cup. All Three feeling, for the first time in eternity, alone.

The cross did not begin the kingdom. It uncovered it. And the treasure buried in the field, the thing Abba sold everything to recover, was always you.
