Der 1810 von Carl Maria von Weber zusammen mit Alexander von Dusch, Johann Gänsbacher, Giacomo Meyerbeer und Gottfried Weber begründete "Harmonische Verein" hatte sich die Propagierung förderungswürdiger fremder und eigener Werke zur Aufgabe gesetzt. Gezielt suchte der Verein Zugang zur zeitgenössischen Presse und lieferte schließlich Artikel für etwa 20 Periodika. Veröffentlicht wurden Konzert- und Theaterbesprechungen, Rezensionen von Musikalien und Theoretika oder Berichte über aktuelle Kulturereignisse. Mit diesem Band wird erstmals das Ausmaß dieser planvollen Beeinflussung der öffentlichen Meinung deutlich: Allein im Zeitraum von 1810 bis 1812 erschienen über 200 Texte der Vereinsbrüder. Publiziert werden alle erreichbaren Texte mit Ausnahme der Beiträge Carl Maria von Webers, die in den Sämtlichen Schriften innerhalb der Weber-Gesamtausgabe erschienen sind.
