Some records are corrected because someone made a mistake. Others are corrected because someone needed the truth to disappear. Evan Rusk makes old county maps behave for a living. Road histories, parcel lines, emergency response overlays, forgotten survey plats—his job is to take damaged records and make them fit the modern system. When Briar County hires him to help digitize its old records annex, the work should be routine. Then he finds Larkspur Road. Years earlier, Evan's sister vanished near a stretch of rural road the county later claimed had never existed the way witnesses remembered it.
