Supervisory reports

The Central Auditing Organization (CAO) is an independent body with public legal personality, reporting to the President of the Republic. Its primary objective is to oversee the funds of the state and other public legal entities. It also assists the People's Assembly in fulfilling its oversight role. Just as the CAO aims to fulfill its role in overseeing state funds and combating financial corruption within relevant entities, the press plays a crucial role in monitoring society and combating corruption in all its forms. This book seeks to identify points of convergence and divergence between the CAO's role and the press's oversight role regarding the performance of the last government of former President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak (the government of Dr. Ahmed Nazif). This analysis considers the press's informational and social responsibility, as well as the CAO's role as one of the oversight bodies concerned with ensuring accountability within society. The analysis examines the media framing of the CAO's tasks and activities, monitors its reports in daily newspapers, and compares the similarities and differences between the various framing mechanisms employed by the sampled newspapers. It also analyzes the role of the communicators in this process during the period from 2004 until the January 2011 revolution.
