In Moscow, the Kremlin ordered the GRU and the KGB to get inside the Polish dissident circles and destroy them before Ukraine and the other Soviet republics followed Poland's turn towards democracy. In Warsaw, General Jaruzelski's ordered the SB to crush the dissidents. Even the Ukrainian KGB sent spies to disrupt the Polish dissidents.

Soviet illegals, who were in the US to get their hands on defense technology, found a way to kill two birds with one stone. They trolled the Polish diaspora communities to penetrate the support networks for the Polish dissidents back home and to thwart the CIA's mission to provide non-lethal support for the Poles seeking to get out from under the Kremlin's ruthless domination.
