Literature is the mirror of society because it performs the important and valuable duty of making the reader face many such realities that are tried to be hidden by covering them with the cover of social values, moral principles and legal constraints. It is the responsibility of literature and writers to show the courage to break the fence of greatness and sanctity that some people sitting on the high chairs of society, politics and religion erect around themselves to hide their animality and brutality. It is their duty to focus their creative camera not only on the bright aspects of society but also on those dark corners in which some people called the divine shadow, the world's refuge, the Nawab or Huzoor, when they remove the mask of greatness and sanctity, appear to be only rational animals. Wajida Tabassum is one such name in Urdu fiction who has shown the courage to focus her creative camera on the above-mentioned dark corners of society. ادب سماج کا آئینہ اس لیے ہے کہ وہ قاری کو ایسے بہت سے حقائق سے روبرو کرانے کا اہم اور گراں قدر فریضہ انجام دیتا ہے کہ جن پر سماجی قدروں، اخلاقی اصولوں اور قانونی مجبوریوں کا غلاف چڑھا کر انھیں چھپانے کی کوشش کی جاتی ہے۔ سماج، سیاست اور مذہب کی اونچی کرسیوں پر بیٹھے ہوئے کچھ لوگ اپنی حیوانیت اور درندگی کو چھپانے کے لیے اپنے گرد عظمت و تقدس کا جو حصار کھڑا کر لیتے ہیں انہیں توڑنے کا حوصلہ دکھانا ادب اور ادیب کی ذمہ داری ہے۔ اس کا فرض ہے کہ اپنے تخلیقی کیمرے کو سماج کے صرف روشن پہلوؤں پر ہی نہیں بلکہ ان تاریک گوشوں پر بھی فوکس کرے کہ جس میں ظل الہی، عالم پناه، حضور نواب یا قبلہ و کعبہ کہے جانے والے کچھ لوگ عظمت و تقدس کا نقاب اتارنے پر صرف اور صرف حیوان ناطق نظر آتے ہیں۔ واجدہ تبسم اردو فکشن کا ایسا ہی ایک نام ہے جس نے اپنے تخلیقی کیمرے کو سماج کے مذکورہ بالا تاریک گوشوں پر فوکس کرنے کا حوصلہ دکھایا ہے۔ اس کتاب "سونا چاندی" میں شامل واجدہ تبسم کے چند افسانے انسانی زندگی کے مختلف پہلوؤں کی عکاسی کرتے ہیں۔
