Early one morning in 1984, two men collecting garbage come across the body of Adrienne Wyatt, a beautiful fashion model, lying dead on the sidewalk in front of an apartment building in the prestigious Upper East Side neighborhood of New York City. We meet Johnny's eclectic group of friends, learn their histories, and experience their interactions with him and each other as well as their romantic involvements. As Johnny and Ashford try to solve the murders, we find out about the unscrupulous and illegal conduct of police, businessmen, trial lawyers, and judges. Johnny finds himself enmeshed in a swirl of murder and corruption at the highest levels of business and the law.
