Choosing to Run takes readers through both the triumphs and greatest challenges of Des Linden''s career, including the day that, despite freezing rain and gusting winds, she experienced her career-defining win at the 2018 Boston Marathon. She discusses her unique journey, and how she got there despite being the underdog who wasn''t born with golden sneakers. After her historic win, Des became a cult fan and media favorite - she is regularly covered in the New York Times (one feature followed her unique take on the NYC Marathon during COVID), she appears as a marathon analyst on NBC Sports, and reaches hundreds of thousands of fans on social media. She has a full racing schedule through 2024, and she continues to be sponsored by her partner of 15 years, Brooks Running, which reaches 3.4M+ across social media and email. Friends who are excited to share the book include Des''s close friend Shalane Flanagan (see comps below), Angela Duckworth, David Epstein, Rich Roll, Tedy Bruschi, and Ben Gibbard.
