This book was inspired by the ongoing theme of the Malaysia International Conference on Languages, Literatures and Cultures (MICOLLAC). The papers in this volume highlight challenges, approaches and collaboration in second or foreign language learning contexts. The collection begins with the seminal paper by Professor Cynthia White entitled "Framing the Future of English in Asia: Issues of Language, Culture and Communication". In this paper, she argues that the future of English in Asia will be influenced by local practices, virtual spaces and global forces in the learning and use of English.
