A stunning celebration of rice with over 100 recipes from Malaysia and her neighbours.
Rice is a symbol of life, prosperity and abundance in many Southeast Asian countries and a staple food all across the world. For Ping, growing up in Malaysia rice was always the sun around which all other dishes revolved.
In this beautiful homage to rice, Ping offers advice and timeless recipes that will make this a book for every rice-loving cook to treasure. She explains whether to wash rice, the different ways to cook it perfectly, how to reheat it safely, why sticky rice isn''t simply overcooked rice and how to elevate your rice-eating experience.
The recipes include rice dishes, dishes to partner with rice, sweet rice, savoury rice, rice snacks, foods made from rice, whole chapters on fried rice and one-pot rice, pickles and condiments and so much more. Try dishes such as Buttered Steak & Mushroom Rice Bowl, Eight Treasures Rice, Rice ''Spamwich'', Baked Honey & Soy Chicken Rice, Satay Short Ribs, Steamed Prawns & Crispy Garlic in Prawn Oil, and Rice and Coconut Pancakes - and you will completely change the way you think about this amazing grain.
